Drent Breeders – US
If you are looking for a Drent to add to your family, we would be thrilled to help you find the right puppy for you – even if that’s not with us! We are proud to be member-breeders of the American Drentsche Patrijshond Association, and can refer you to any of the listed member-breeders on the ADPA website.
Of particular note, we are fortunate to have great relationships with Two Gun Kennels, High Desert Drents, and Good Omens Drents. I know them all personally, and can attest that they are all thoughtful and responsible breeders who are and will continue to make great positive impacts to the Drent population in America.
Drent Breed Clubs
We are members of the American Drentsche Patrijshond Association, the preeminent organization for the Drent in the United States. We are also members of the Vereniging de Drentsche Patrijshond and the Drentsche Patrijshonden Club Nederland, the two Dutch clubs. If you’re looking to import a Drent or get involved with the breed on an international scale, European breed clubs are a great place to start.
Other international Drent breed clubs include: a Swedish club, Belgian club, and Danish club
Other Breeders
Drents not quite the right fit and looking for another breed? We follow and maintain relationships with several breeders of other breeds, including English Springer Spaniels, Eurasiers, Beaucerons, and everything in between. Please feel free to reach out and we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction for a quality, responsible breeder!
San Diego Dog Activities
If there’s something you’re looking to do with your dog in San Diego, we probably know someone! I’ve listed some favorites below, but is certainly not all-inclusive, so if you are looking for anything in particular that’s not listed feel free to reach out and I may be able to point you in the right direction.
For affordable, reinforcement-based group training classes, both for basic manners and introductions to various dog sports, we recommend San Diego Dog Sports Club. For Scent Work specifically, Scent Work Club of San Diego is a great organization to join if you want to get more deeply involved.
For getting your versatile pointing dog on birds, the San Diego NAVHDA Chapter is super welcoming and a great place to get your feet wet and make connections, and Ruth Weiss at High On Kennels has the most experience training Drents in the area (and plenty of experience with other versatile pointing breeds, too!). There are also a few other NAVHDA chapters in Southern California – Inland Empire, SoCal, and Upland (I have not yet been to any of the training days with these other chapters, but have many connections who have). If you want to check out other types of bird dog training, Inland Valley Retriever Club and Southern California Sporting Spaniel Club are also great resources and very welcoming to newbies in my experience.
Finally, for one on one training, we have had great experiences with both Andrea at Spot On Dog Training (both basic obedience/manners and general behavioral issues) and Liz Randall at The Resilient Dog (more advanced behavioral issues as well as some sport dog training).
