Kaia was adopted from Labs & More, a San Diego dog rescue who pulled her from a local shelter in Apple Valley, CA, who found her as a pregnant stray. Kaia had 13(!!) puppies – all of whom were also adopted out.

Kaia was our introduction to dog training and dog sports. Originally thinking to pursue becoming a Therapy Dog, Kaia received her CGC title in February 2020. But instead of therapy work, we turned to trick training and rally obedience. Kaia is an excellent and enthusiastic learner, especially when treats are involved, and quickly picked up all the skills needed through Masters-level Rally. Unfortunately, due to some health and behavioral concerns that likely popped up due to her age and rough start in life, as well as ongoing environmental sensitivities and ring stress, Kaia was retired from in-person trialing in the summer of 2022.

Kaia now lives her best pet dog life, going on sniffy walks, napping on all the comfiest places in the house, and being the favorite office dog at Andrew’s workplace. We still train tricks and rally skills for fun, play lots of ferocious games of tug, and take her on plenty of adventures.
